Gautam Gambhir
Gautam Gambhir was named head coach of India cricket team in July 2024, succeeding Rahul Dravid. This appointment was due largely to Gambhir’s success mentoring Kolkata Knight Riders to an IPL title. Additionally, Gambhir boasts an impressive track record as an India batsman: in ODIs between 2007 and 2011, Gambhir scored eight centuries and 27 50-plus scores between 2007. In 2009 he was recognized with the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year Award; additionally receiving India’s second-highest sporting award: Arjuna Award.
Starting his career with Delhi Daredevils in 2012 and leading them to two more IPL titles in 2013 and 2014, Gambhir retired from international cricket in 2018 before playing domestic cricket and coaching full-time thereafter. From 2019-2024 he represented East Delhi constituency, working on local development projects while offering free cricket coaching sessions for underprivileged children.
As India prepares to face Namibia at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Gambhir has taken steps to ensure his teammates feel relaxed and content. He hosted an informal dinner for all his players at his home; an act which showed the importance of family in his life. Gambhir was born into an upper middle-class Punjabi family in Delhi. His father Deepak was a businessman and mother Seema was a housewife. At age 10, while attending Modern School Barakhamba Road and under the guidance of Pawan Gulati’s guidance – who encouraged him to play cricket from an early age – Gautam Gambhir began playing cricket and later was mentored by Sanjay Bharadwaj from Lal Bahadur Shastri Academy and Raju Tandon before graduating Hindu College University of Delhi in 2004.
As a player, Gambhir was widely respected for his aggressive limited-overs style and fearlessness on the field. Additionally, his strong knowledge of cricket helped him read pitches. As coach, his strategy proved highly effective as his team led most of this season’s Indian Premier League table.

Talent scouts noticed him for Railways Ranji team but found it difficult competing against players from more affluent states.
Dhoni soon received an A tour to Kenya, where his remarkable batting feats won over everyone and launched him into national reckoning. A year later, he was chosen for five One Day Internationals against Bangladesh; although his start was slow, selectors and Sourav Ganguly held firm to their faith in Dhoni despite it, which led to an exhibition of charisma and audacious stroke-play.
After winning the 2004 World Cup, Dhoni took over as captain of both India’s ODI and Test teams. Since then he has led them to victory in multiple limited-overs tournaments as well as test matches against top-rated opponents; during his leadership India’s Test rankings significantly rose under him and Dhoni has become known as “The Captain Cool”, known for his calm yet composed performances under pressure; additionally his wicket-keeping prowess and tactical ability are legendary!
Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli is one of the biggest stars in Indian cricket, as well as captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Since 2008 ICC World Cup victory with U-19 side India, Kohli quickly established himself in ODIs as white ball batsman for India and in 2012 earned himself Player of Year accolades thanks to four centuries scored during stellar tournament.
